According to foreign media reports recently, an activity involving Lightning Network payments has been conducted globally on the Bitcoin second-layer network. The Lightning Network transactions in the event are worth a little more each time they pass through a transaction, and are currently worth 2.8 million satoshis ($96). The programs origins are as extraordinary as its implementation: It all arose out of the curiosity and educational intent of an anonymous Twitter celebrity with a profile picture of a space cat.
Hodlonaut, who describes himself as a hodl (hold coins) enthusiast, has been a full-time Bitcoin enthusiast since June 2018. Its Twitter avatar is a space cat against the background of the moon, with an expression and smile suggesting optimism. The cat has the BTC logo embroidered on its right arm, and NO2X (No Segwit 2X) and Acronym for UASF (User Activated Soft Fork).

The staunch bitcoin supremacist has been following bitcoin since early 2013, earning him a following on Twitter. He uses the platform to think about the philosophy of Bitcoin and promote it like most cryptocurrency Twitter accounts. Doing a Lightning Network transaction is as exciting as I was when I first discovered Bitcoin. He wanted to spread his excitement throughout the community. On 1/19/19, he impulsively decided to give 100,000 Satoshi ($3.4) to a randomly picked stranger responder in his post. This thing (his idea behind the experiment) just popped into my head. I have no ambitions, I just throw it out there.

This impulsive experimentation by Hodlonaut has grown into a full-fledged social experiment and movement. After passing to the first torchbearer, the transnational torch relay has crossed six continents (except for Antarctica, which would be impressive if there were one) and 39 countries, including most of the European Union. Although its creators originally thought it would just pass 4, 5, 6 times, and the last people will take it and not go on, and no one will care, the torch has already passed 139 unique users. Hodlonaut is optimistic that it will reach the Lightning Network cap of 4.3 million satoshis before the trial ends, at which point he intends to ask the last holders to donate their funds to cryptocurrency charity BTC Venezuela.

While the torch relay remains well supported and protected, it has run into trouble as it travels around the world.
The first time this happened, a passer had refused to carry out the torch after taking 250,000 satoshis ($8.60). To salvage the situation, the previous sender decided to reignite the torch with their own funds and resend it to more trustworthy users. The same story played out again with a payout of 2.51 million satoshis ($86). This time, the recipient tweeted as he justified his actions:
Luckily, torchbearer Klaus Lovgreen did what he did when the torch relay was first threatened and sent a new payment out of his own pocket to a new user. After directing users to use Lovgreens tippin.me to compensate Klaus Lovgreen, Hodlonaut said his good deeds will eventually pay off.

The torch relay continued after two twists and turns, and gradually grew up under the influence of Hodlonaut. Thats exactly what he wanted, even if the torch was about to go out.

The organic nature of the program and the willingness of the community to sacrifice personal funds to keep it going made this experiment in community trust a success. Hodlonaut said this shows growing interest in the Lightning Network, but also a community determined to embrace an exciting new technology even in a tough market environment.
