The outbreak of the contradiction between technology and the times is a historical necessity, and the migration of human beings to the information age is unstoppable. Instead of being trapped in a geopolitical cage, it is better to go to the digital spac

Sometimes reality is harder to figure out than script.

Two years ago, I chatted with developers in the crypto circle. Everyone talked about Web3, the new decentralized Internet, and DID. The Playing Dilemma: Whats the Use? After all, the mobile Internet experience is so good now, it is too fast and smooth, and no user is willing to sacrifice speed and experience to embrace the immature method and creaky technology of decentralization.

Trump signed a presidential decree today, announcing that WeChat and TikTok will be officially blocked in 45 days.

Another common dilemma has finally surfaced.

Every time I encountered the first dilemma before, I always comforted myself with optimism. Today, developers rarely realize the importance of decentralization because they don’t know that collecting and controlling user data requires a price—— Although mastering user data is a means of making money, this business model also needs to be regulated by law. This kind of responsibility and price is sometimes heavy and even tragic. As the laws are gradually improved, developers who do not want to bear this responsibility may slowly turn around and embrace decentralization.

From today’s standpoint, the law may not have been the main driving force behind the decentralization movement at all. The second dilemma shows that those more complex forces—geopolitics and great power conflicts—are far more direct, urgent, and harmful than the law. In turn, it can also promote decentralization as a more optimal business strategy and gain faster popularity.

The path we imagined before, to break the iron wall cast by the mobile Internet, can only rely on a slow enlightenment process. Gradually let more people have a sense when writing software by hand, and design their own products and services around minimizing trust as much as possible. Over time, complete the transformation of decentralization. When a new generation of programmers grows up, perhaps programmers born in the 2000s and 10s, they are unwilling to develop software under the shackles of large companies. They will restart the spirit of open source and embrace the cypherpunk.

But recent events remind us that decentralization, an enlightenment movement, like all enlightenment movements in the world, has never been proactive. A group actively embraces changes and embraces future trends. On the contrary, it is passive Yes, the artillery blasted the walls, and you were forced to make some changes. Things were so bad that there was no other way but this way, so you simply turned the table, removed the blindness, and made people understand. This is the normal state of enlightenment.

Todays violent fluctuations in the world, in an environment of globalization and interpenetration, will be transmitted to anyone along every network cable and every commodity. Few can escape its effects. In the past, we often said that the mobile Internet is a closed ecosystem, and every APP is a data island. Today we call for a new Internet, not only calling for the return of data and control to users, but also calling for developers to provide services to users in a simpler and easier way. This is the emancipation of consumers, but also the emancipation of producers.
