Hackathon Summary
Hack Western 11 concluded with 62 registered projects submitted by student developers. The event fostered innovation and creativity in a collaborative environment. Projects were evaluated on innovation, technical complexity, completeness, and design to ensure a thorough evaluation.
Participants can participate in teams (up to four people) or individually, allowing for flexibility. Hackathon encourages project submissions across multiple tracks, increasing exposure and opportunities for projects to face a variety of challenges.
The science fair-style environment allows participants to present their projects to judges for detailed demonstrations and discussions. This format helps teams articulate their goals, highlight achievements, and receive feedback. In-person judging provides an interactive platform to celebrate creative solutions.
Overall, Hack Western 11 fostered a productive atmosphere with a diverse range of student-led projects. The event prioritized project integrity and user-friendly design, aiming for technically sound and practically applicable solutions.

Continuing a decade-long tradition of being one of the largest student-led hackathons in Canada, Hack Western 11 is hosted by the University of Western Ontario. Known for fostering collaboration and technical creativity, the event attracts hundreds of students to develop web and mobile projects over an action-packed weekend. Hack Western has always pushed the boundaries of technology, fostering skill development and building community. This year, Hack Western 11 was inspired by the essence of an overnight camping trip and aimed to create an unforgettable experience that fosters collaboration in technological innovation.
