1. Introduction to Succinct
Succinct is building a decentralized certifier network, aiming to reduce blockchain verification costs and latency by separating transaction execution and verification. Its core technology, SP 1 zkVM, uses GPU optimization and efficient recursion to improve performance by 10 times, and achieves compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), providing solutions for cross-chain bridging, instant fund withdrawal and other scenarios.
Succinct Network is not only applicable to various existing ZK applications, such as rollups, cross-chain bridges, identity authentication, etc., but also provides broad space and possibilities for more innovative applications that may appear in the future. At the same time, it cleverly uses crypto-economic incentives to push the worlds proof capabilities to a new level.
Simply put, Succincts vision is to enable anyone to become a prover and use their own computing resources to provide verification services for the blockchain world.
2. Advantages of Succinct
The author believes that Succinct has two main advantages:
The first is financing. Succincts financing is very impressive, with a financing amount of US$55 million, led by Paradigm, and participated by Robot Ventures, Bankless Ventures and other institutions. Both the lead and participating institutions are very impressive.
The second is the global distributed proof cluster and proof competition (all-pay auction) described in the white paper.
The global distributed proof cluster can be understood as the current transportation system. Each transportation company has its own delivery capabilities, such as some are good at delivering small items, some are good at delivering large items, some are fast, and some have a wide coverage. These couriers together form a global transportation network to provide delivery services for the entire city. In the Succinct Network, the global distributed proof cluster is this global transportation network, but it does not provide delivery services, but verification services. Provers around the world (hardware, data centers, home devices) jointly provide computing and verification capabilities for the blockchain network.
The proof competition (all-pay auction) encourages users to generate proofs, submit requests and attach fees, and provers obtain the right to generate proofs by participating in the auction. The special feature of the proof competition (all-pay auction) is that all participants need to pay a small bidding fee to prove their sincerity. The advantage of this is that users can get services at the lowest market price, and service providers can continuously optimize hardware and algorithms through competition to reduce costs.
3. Succinct Testnet
Succinct opened its testnet on February 11. Since it is a closed testnet, the author will start the tutorial from how to obtain an invitation code, enter the testnet, and explain the games in the testnet.
1. How to obtain an invitation code
At present, there is still a great opportunity to participate in the test network. There are several ways to obtain the invitation code:
Participate in weekly events organized by the community. Go to the Succinct Discord server, select the #contest-details channel, check the rules of the weeks event, enter an event based on your skills, and post your entry on X or in the servers #submissions channel.
Be active in the community, and when you are active enough, you will also be given an invitation code.
Through contributions, such as writing articles, beautiful pictures, memes, etc., they will also be manually coded by the official.
X will issue invitation codes from time to time, but due to time zone reasons, it is not very friendly to Dongba.
Suggestion: I suggest that participating in an event is the easiest way to get an invitation code. Basically, as long as you submit your work and it fits the theme, you will be given one. If you don’t have the skills, you can choose the second option to participate in depth.
2. Testnet Access
Go to https://testnet.succinct.xyz, click “ENTER TESTNET”, click “CONTINUE”
Follow the steps to connect your wallet;
Enter the 10-digit invitation code;
Link X account;
Just deposit. (To participate in the test network, you need to top up 10 U. Currently, only 10 U can be topped up once. It is a one-time consumption and no subsequent top-up is required.)
(III) Test Network Game Description
Currently, there are 5 games in the test network. The rules of each game are as follows:
Superprover
Click the block to get a Succinct test network star. After testing, you will get a star after clicking successfully, which costs about 0.1 U of GAS.
Ethereum
An Ethereum block is chosen to be proofed, numbered 1 - 5. Larger blocks require more computation but have higher star rewards.
Play Flappy Bird
The higher the score of the flying bird, the more points you will get. After testing, flying over a pillar gives about 0.5 stars, which is easier to get stars than before, but the U cost will also increase.
TruthLens
Select the images you think are generated by AI. Its free, but you can only play once a week. After testing, select all and you will get 10 points.
Turbo
Dodge the blocks and get the pink SUCCINCT icon. The rules are the same as the block dodge game we played when we were kids. After testing, I give about 1 star for every 10 points, and it costs 0.1 U of gas.
The testnet was updated on February 19th. After the update, the rewards for each game were balanced. Now basically 10 U can get 100-110 stars.
IV. Conclusion
Whether it is financing or technical advantages, Succinct is a project worth participating in. Currently, there are about 20,000 people participating in the closed test network. Considering that the test network requires recharge, there is a high probability that there will be incentives in the future.
If you don’t have an invitation code yet, please don’t worry and actively participate in community activities. It is not difficult to get an invitation code at the moment, and I believe that more and more test seats will be opened over time.
