On Wednesday (May 16th), local time in the United States, at the 2018 Coindesk Consensus Conference, Bridget van Kralingen, senior vice president of platform and blockchain business of Big Blue IBM, announced that it would introduce charitable attributes on the IBM blockchain. . In her speech, she said IBM wanted to focus on core human values — helping each other and rewriting trust.
In fact, IBM has adopted an agnostic blockchain solution based on a permissioned network that can run both private and public chains. The company is working with the Hyperledger blockchain consortium to run ethereum smart contracts, and their token economy can be moved to a permission-based blockchain for identification without additional data.
In addition, at the 2018 Coindesk Consensus Conference, IBM also announced a partnership with Stellar Lumens to develop cross-border payment and microfinance business services.

Also at the 2018 Coindesk Consensus Conference, IBM also announced a new partner, Veridium, and the two parties will jointly seek sustainable development solutions to solve problems in the fields of carbon footprint and carbon trading. Todd Lemons, the founding chairman of Veridium, said he has been using blockchain technology to facilitate carbon asset transactions and hopes to automate corporate accounting systems. Todd Lemons also hopes to use the IBM blockchain to track carbon footprints and promote sustainable development.
IBM also announced that it has been working with Walmart and ten other packaged goods retailers to track plastic bags using blockchain technology. In addition, IBM also hopes to place its diamond business on the blockchain to track diamond production and ensure that jewelry products are obtained legally and not from conflict areas.
Finally, Bridget van Kralingen, senior vice president of IBMs blockchain business, emphasized that IBM is very concerned about promoting social causes. Although blockchain technology is currently mainly used in the enterprise field, it does not mean that it cannot be used for social benefits.
