Hackathon Overview

Hackathon@WEF 2025 was held in Davos, Switzerland from January 21 to 23, 2025, attracting 23 registered developers and 7 projects were approved. The event aims to address global challenges through AI, data science and advanced technologies. Participants worked in teams, both in person at Lab 42 and the Davos Innovation Center and online, focusing on creating solutions with real-world application potential.

The social platform built by DIGITAL LOUNGE@WEF gives developers the opportunity to connect with CEOs, government officials, entrepreneurs and thought leaders, showcase projects to high-quality audiences, increase exposure and lay the foundation for career development; the beautiful environment of the Swiss Alps, supplemented by free accommodation, meals and conference materials, optimizes the participation experience; a prize pool of more than 10,000 Swiss francs provides support for subsequent innovation. In addition, the collaborative atmosphere created by the Davos Innovation Center has effectively promoted the global innovation process.

This Hackathon not only demonstrated the potential of technological innovation in solving global problems, but also promoted in-depth cross-domain exchanges and built a high-quality platform for exploring innovative solutions to global challenges.

Hackathon Winners

The Hackathon awarded prizes in a category that recognized the projects’ technical innovation and effective implementation.

1st place (CHF 5,000)

Inspecting Avalanches - This project focuses on detecting and classifying avalanches through advanced analysis and classification techniques to improve safety measures and response processes.

2nd place (CHF 1500)

Team Strike - Developed a chatbot that converts natural language queries into SQL queries and XML files, improving database interaction and accessibility.

3rd place (CHF 1,000)

Sigma - Developed a humanoid system capable of interacting with its environment, using efficient AI models and ensuring data sovereignty throughout its operations.
