Recently, Web3 AI projects that integrate the MCP concept have attracted market attention, such as DARK in the Solana ecosystem and SKYAI in the BNB Chain ecosystem. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol (MCP), which was launched by Anthropic on November 25, 2024. As an open protocol, MCP standardizes how external data and applications interact with large language models (LLMs) and provide context. The industry often compares MCP to a USB interface for AI applications, enabling AI to access external data and tools in a plug-and-play, multifunctional way.
MCP was a concept that exploded in the Web2 technology circle some time ago. However, this new AI trend has also spread to Web3. The market believes that MCP can also promote the development of tracks such as DeFAI and GameFAI, improve the practicality of AI Agents, and set off a second wave of market trends. In order to help readers screen projects and grasp trends, Odaily Planet Daily has reviewed the current Web3 AI project representatives that combine MCP in this article.
DARK
DARK is an experimental MCP network under a trusted execution environment (TEE), built on Solana, and has issued tokens. Its first application is an automatic integration of new tools into the AIMCP server under the TEE protocol, but the product is still under development and users can use their mailboxes to wait. The founder of DARK is edgar , who is also the co-founder of mtndao, a DAO based on the Solana blockchain that focuses on the innovation and development of blockchain technology and the Web3 ecosystem and has held many hackathons.
At the same time, in order to increase community participation and company revenue, DARK is also developing a game DARK Games, which is similar to the popular Dark Forest in 2021. In the game, SPUTNIK is the first competitive AI agent in the game. Players need to use DARK tokens to interact with it to get clues. SPUTNIK uses Dark Forest MCP and Solana MCP to play certain game functions and interact with the chain.

SkyAI
SkyAI is built on BNB Chain. It aims to use MCP to build a blockchain-native AI infrastructure, provide a scalable and interoperable data protocol designed for Web3-based AI applications, and has issued tokens. SKYAI plans to promote the practical application of AI in blockchain environments by simplifying development by integrating multi-chain data access, AI agent deployment, and protocol-level utilities. In the future, SkyAI also plans to integrate cutting-edge AI protocols such as Googles A2A. However, SkyAI currently has no actual products.
SkyAI was very successful as the first pre-sale project supported by the Four.meme platform. It started pre-sale on April 17 and raised more than 83,851 BNB by the end of April 19, worth about 50 million US dollars, 167 times more than the original amount. The official announcement was that no tokens would be reserved, 80% of the tokens would be distributed through public pre-sales, and 20% of the tokens would be used to increase liquidity, so early participants in the pre-sale also benefited greatly.

Solix
Solix is a DePIN network that uses MCP and is committed to creating a more convenient, efficient and fairer Internet experience. Solix allows users to share idle bandwidth and receive rewards through browser extensions. It currently covers 63 countries around the world and processes 275 TB of data per day.
On April 14, 2025, Solix announced the completion of a $29.5 million financing led by Eclip Foundation. This round of funds will be used to accelerate the development of its MODEL CONTEXT PROTOCOL (MCP) technology, which enables intelligent bandwidth sharing without affecting the users Internet experience.
No tokens have been issued yet, but there are still opportunities for interaction. Click to read the interactive tutorial:
Open MCP
Open MCP is an open source protocol designed to connect AI agents to the EVM blockchain and web3 infrastructure using MCP. Its mission is to create standardized interfaces that enable AI systems to interact with decentralized technologies. Holoworld AI is a core contributor to Open MCP. The product is now available for project owners.
HighKey
HighKey is a DeFAI platform that aims to connect AI agents and blockchains through the DARP protocol (Decentralized Agent and Resource Protocol) to build an AI Internet. The DARP protocol is compatible with MCP, but has more powerful functions. Previously, HighKey actually used the MCP protocol to build an AI agent that can read multiple data from the chain at one time and become a users personal DeFi assistant to help users conduct professional analysis. For example, if a user asks Find me any arbitrage opportunities between Uniswap on Ethereum and PancakeSwap token X on BSC now, the AI agent will extract data from the chain and tools and give the user a specific answer. HighKey has released its tokens.

DAMN.FUN
DAMN.FUN is an AI native game framework developed by Ethan and Jerry . The project is also integrating the architecture of the MCP protocol, DAMN.FUN SDK, and Digimon Engine (its AI native game engine) to achieve seamless integration of the DAMU.FUN ecosystem with external clients, LLMs, and AI agents. The integration work includes building webhooks and new REST API endpoints for external game/agent creation, ownership, and wallet connections. The project game is online and tokens have been issued.

DeMCP
DeMCP is a decentralized MCP network that provides SSE proxy services for mainstream LLMs, solves trust and security issues through TEE and blockchain, and will use token economics to establish a sustainable incentive and business model to encourage more contributors. No tokens have been issued yet.
DeMCP focuses on providing self-developed and open-source MCP services for AI agents, providing a deployment platform for MCP developers to share commercial benefits, and achieving one-stop access to mainstream large-scale language models. Global developers can obtain services by supporting stablecoins (USDT, USDC). However, its products are still under development.
UnifAI
UnifAI is a DeFAI platform that enables AI agents to perform on-chain and off-chain tasks in the Web3 ecosystem. UniQ is UnifAIs flagship product. UniQ can reduce the time analysts spend on complex on-chain research and designing DeFi strategies. It can even transform cumbersome multi-step on-chain operations into simple conversations. Users only need to say Transfer my funds to the highest-yielding pool on Meteora or Compound to replace the previous cumbersome steps.
Although UnifAI has not stated that it uses the MCP protocol, it compares itself to the MCP in the Web3 field and its flagship product to Manus in the Web3 field. UnifAI has not yet issued a coin, but has launched the first quarter points plan.
Conclusion
In summary, most of the current web3 AI projects that combine the MCP protocol are still in the early development stage, and actual products have not been launched. However, some projects have already issued tokens. Although MCP is the newest and hottest concept in the current AI Agent track, with the experience of the collapse of the previous wave of AI Agents, we have to think about whether MCP is another illusory hype transmitted from Web2 to Web3, or whether it can truly lead AI Agents on the road to practicality.
Web3 AI Agent has always faced two major problems. One is that the actual product is seriously out of touch with the narrative . People often joke that an AI developer who is at the 18th line in Web2 can become a first-class AI developer and attract market attention by telling a story in Web3. When the grand narrative is finally punctured by the actual product that has been delayed again and again, everything has come to an end.
For example, now combined with MCPs claim that AI agents can interact with on-chain data and external tools, it can realize functions such as querying balances, issuing tokens, or conducting DeFi arbitrage. However, in fact, when the first round of DeFAI became popular, the top targets also told these stories. I believe that investors have not completely lost their memory. But now we are told that these functions can be better realized by combining with MCP. Does that mean that the previously hyped DeFAI products have never been implemented?
The second major problem is that tokens are not linked to actual products . If you don’t issue tokens, no one will pay attention to you. Web3 AI developers are well aware of this, so we can see that token issuance and pre-sales always come before the actual product. But the problem is that even after the product is launched, most tokens have no practical or governance connection with the actual product. The tokens are out of touch with the product, and the consequence is that the product has less control over the token price, the track narrative and market sentiment dominate the price trend, and no one cares about the product from beginning to end.
We have already experienced a round of Web3 AI Agent disillusionment, and investors have learned their lesson. They are no longer easily paying for empty narratives and inflated valuations, but need projects with actual product-market fit. In this way, MCP has a long way to go.
