The Roam Pilot burning pool remains open and users can still participate in the experience.

On January 24, the Roam Pilot Burning Pool was officially launched, and users can convert Roam Points into $ROAM tokens through the Pilot Burning Pool. As TGE approaches, the Roam Pilot Burning Pool not only allows users to familiarize themselves with the burning mechanism and operation process in advance, but also helps them explore the best strategy to maximize their personal benefits. The Burning Pool attracted a large number of users as soon as it was launched. In the first 16 hours, the cumulative burn volume exceeded 61 million Roam Points.

In order to solve the problems encountered by community users during the participation process, on January 27, Roam officially held an AMA, where co-founder YZ personally answered questions and shared the operation of the burning pool and the best participation strategy.

Roam Pilot Burn Pool Updates and User FAQs

In the AMA, YZ first explained the difference between the Roam Pilot burn pool and the official burn pool:

Compared with the official burning pool, the Pilot burning pool is designed to help users familiarize themselves with the working mechanism of the burning pool and its related operating procedures. Therefore, the difficulty adjustment mechanism has not yet been introduced in the Pilot burning pool, while the official burning pool after TGE will formally add dynamic difficulty adjustment to ensure token release that is more in line with the market status. In addition, the total amount of tokens released in each burning cycle of the Pilot burning pool will be consistent with the total amount of tokens released in the first burning cycle after the official burning pool goes online, and the total amount of tokens released in each cycle of the official burning pool will be dynamically adjusted afterwards. And because Roam has not yet TGE, the $ROAM tokens obtained by users in the Polit burning pool will be collected through the App account after TGE.

Q 1: What are the most common problems users encounter in this activity? What are the main reasons?

YZ: In the past few days, we have found some problems encountered by users. Some of them are related to the project itself, and some may be because we still have room for improvement in community publicity, resulting in users not knowing enough about the rules and operating procedures.

  • Miner Pool: Miner Pool only supports burning Roam Points obtained through Roam Miners (Rainier MAX 60, Baker MAX 30, MetaBlox OG). For example, if the account has a total of 200,000 Roam Points, but only 15,000 of them are obtained through Roam Miners, then only these 15,000 Roam Points can be burned in the Miner Pool, and the remaining points cannot be used in the Miner Pool.

  • Sticker Pool: Stickers only determine the amount of Roam Points a user can burn. If you have Stickers but not enough Roam Points, you still cannot participate in the burn. Similarly, if you have more than 500 Roam Points but not enough Stickers, you need to collect more Stickers before you can participate in the Sticker Pool.

  • 48-hour lock rule: All Roam Points must be in the account for 48 hours before they can be used for burning. The system will update the Roam Points balance at 00:00 UTC every day, and only the points that have been updated twice can be used for burning. For example: the current time is Tuesday 00:00 UTC, then only Roam Points obtained before Saturday 00:00 UTC can be used for burning. Therefore, when a user participates in the burning pool, the total Roam Points balance of the account may be different from the actual points that can be burned.

Although there were some problems during the process, they have all been fixed. The main purpose of the Pilot Burning Pool is to optimize the mechanism through testing, and we are very grateful for the feedback and support from users. Overall, I think the performance of the economic model is in line with expectations.

Q 2: Some users reported that they had more than 500 Roam Points but were unable to burn them. What could be the possible reason?

YZ: One possible reason is that the user has chosen the wrong burning pool. The miner burning pool is limited to users who have Roam miners. If you don’t have a miner, you cannot burn Roam Points in this pool. Therefore, before operating, please be sure to read the rules of each burning pool carefully to ensure that you meet the participation conditions.

Overall, this is not a systemic bug. Currently, there are about 10,000 users participating in the burning pool every minute. If it is a systemic problem, we will receive a lot of feedback.

Q 3: Some users have reported that their account points are shown as 0 or negative. Why is this?

YZ: We did find some abnormal user points. Among them, the system mistakenly issued 460 Roam Points, causing many users to receive extra points in a short period of time. Our operations team discovered the problem within 5 minutes and quickly rolled back to restore the points to the correct value. However, during this period, about 300 users completed the burning and received tokens because of the mistakenly issued Roam Points. Although the impact is small, in order to ensure fairness, we rolled back the relevant accounts, so the points of some users may be temporarily displayed as 0.

Q 4: What is the overall performance of the Pilot burning pool at present?

YZ: The Pilot burning pool has been online for only 16 hours, and the total amount of burning has exceeded 61 million Roam Points. In a single cycle (about 17 minutes), up to 15,000 users can participate simultaneously.

In addition, most burning activities are concentrated in Asian user active hours, especially in South Korea and Southeast Asia, where the communities are most active.

Q 5: How can users maximize their burning income? Any suggestions?

YZ: The most important thing is to pay attention to the performance of each burning pool and choose the right time to burn. It is recommended to test 10 cycles first, observe the changes in token returns, and then adjust the strategy. If you have a large number of Roam Points, I personally recommend not to invest all of them in the same cycle at once, so that the overall rate of return is greatly affected by external factors. A more robust way is to spread Roam Points over 500 to 1,000 cycles. This is also a common strategy for some large households. This method can make returns more predictable and stable, while reducing the impact of market fluctuations. Although there is no fixed optimal solution for the burning strategy, through continuous optimization, we can find a way that suits us better.

Q 6: Based on user feedback, what optimizations will be made to the official burning pool in the future?

YZ: Based on user feedback, we plan to make the following optimizations:

  • Remove the upper limit of Sticker burning: Currently, a single burning supports a maximum of 50 Stickers and a maximum of 5,000 Roam Points. This limit reduces the efficiency of burning. We plan to remove this upper limit to make Sticker burning more flexible.

  • Optimize the operation experience: In future versions, users can directly enter the combustion cycle and the number of points without dragging and dropping, which improves the interaction efficiency.

In addition, regarding the performance of the miner burning pool, I personally think that it is performing well at the moment. Although the total burned points of the miner pool are 10 million, I dont think this is the final data yet. I have talked to many miner owners who are currently only investing a small amount of Roam Points for testing, and may further increase the burning amount in the future. Therefore, I am very much looking forward to seeing the miner users future contributions to the burning pool and how they will affect the overall yield.

The Roam Pilot burning pool is still open and users can still participate in the experience

Currently, the Roam Pilot Burning Pool is still in progress, and the active participation of users has provided important suggestions for Roam to optimize the final version. With the continuous improvement of the burning mechanism and operation process, I believe that the user experience will be further improved. Facing the upcoming TGE, users still have the opportunity to participate and optimize their own strategies. Just download the Roam App, earn enough Roam Points, and participate in the burning to convert them into $ROAM tokens.
